Periodontics

Treatments of connective tissue diseases which work as an absorber between dental and maxillary bones enabling a complete settlement or teeth inside the chin and covering all over the maxillary bones for feeding them in oral cavity are applied by periodontologists.

Genetic characteristics play a very little role in gum diseases. These genetic to the parents are the thickness of maxillary bones, gum tissues, calcium and mineral balance and misplacements of palatals.
Generally, this disease results from that the individuals do not have an ideal brushing habit, do not attend periodical examinations by a dentist, wrong fillings and dental prosthesis, excessive use of systematic drugs, gingivitis resulting from bad habits of brushing and the most importantly the negligence of gum bleeding during brushing.

Some diseases are also gum diseases which also affect general health of patients. These are cardiac diseases, high blood pressure, diabetics, arteriosclerosis, oral diseases, renal diseases, contagious diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis, etc.

General symptoms of gum diseases: 
1.Gum bleeding
2.Gum growth and changes in colour
3.Gingivitis
4.Maxillary resorption supporting teeth together due to gingivitis
5.Dental rocking and loss due to maxillary resorption
6.Extreme halitosis

Gum and maxillary losses in such individuals make it difficult to apply prosthesis and implants. General health of an individual may be affected by both gum diseases and other oral infections. They may change the values of ASO and infected leukocyte numbers in blood or urine analysis.

Gum diseases are very important findings in cardiac, high blood, arteriosclerosis, diabetics, joint and renal diseases in 80-85%. In this sense, right treatments of above mentioned gum diseases can be protected easily most of the time.
 
Treatments of Gum Diseases:
1. Informing patients on oral and dental care and keeping it on the run
2. Cleaning dental tartars and plaques 
3. Deep cleaning of gingivitis (Curettage)
4. Drug treatments offered by dentists after cleaning and curettage 
5. Periodonthical surgical operations should be applied (gum operations) to prevent reformation and protect gums and maxillary bones from resorption in advanced diseases. Surgical and mechanical treatments may be conducted either in traditional or technological way – laser. Laser applications are applied very intensively and successfully in gum diseases in recent years.
 
These applications give you these advantages: 
a. Very little anaesthesia is needed during application. 
b. Very little bleeding occurs. 
c. Recovery is much faster. 
d. Less loss of healthy tissues
e. Less pain experienced by patients after application.
