Oral and dental health is the entrance to the planning treatment of a patient having such problems and to the determination of those findings.
Required treatments are planned after patient complaints are examined in detail with findings of radiology, salvia, blood and allergy tests in oral diagnosis. 
Radiology is very important in all findings of gum complaints in oral diagnosis (resorption), determination of decays till root ends, selection of healthy maxillary areas by locating implant on best locations in implant applications if there are 20-year teeth positions inside broken and maxillary bone in the surgery, milimettic detection of abscess, cyst, tumor and other findings.
In radiology, panoramic, computer-based tomography and 3-dimensional monitoring systems are quite important during diagnosis.
Oral diagnosis may detect first symptoms of many systematic diseases in gum, cheek, lip and palatal areas for soft tissues as it monitors through all oral cavity.
As salvia structure habit is an important factor in decay formation and gum diseases in oral diagnosis, salvia tests and salvia biochemistry play an important role in protecting oral care together  with general care. In addition to this, halitosis and gum bleeding are also very important due to reasons stated above.
In blood and urine analysis, doctors and patients are informed about contagious diseases common in the society (Hepatitis A-B-C, AIDS, Tuberculosis, etc.) and planning may be changed accordingly.
Systematic diseases must always be asked to the patients during oral diagnosis. For instance, high blood pressure, diabetics, cardiac diseases, arteriosclerosis, hormonal diseases and drugs used by patients related to these diseases may change the planning of a treatment in dentistry. For instance, drugs used in diabetics, cardiac diseases and arteriosclerosis have an effect on clotting time, therefore much attention must be paid during surgical and implant applications.
The treatment plan of a patient must be re-designed according to findings after evaluating all oral and dental care, tongue – lips – cheeks – palates – gums in all contagious diseases.
