Implantology is a scientific area which aims to locate artificial tooth roots on maxillary roots on patients who have one or more missing teeth. In some incidences, implants may be used for patients having no teeth at all to let them use their prosthesis much comfortably.
The advantages of dental implants:
1.Teeth do not need cutting for artificial teeth or bridges. 2.Expenditures are avoided for applications approximately done in 5-8 years as teeth are cut and gums are damaged in dental coatings, bridges and prothesis. 3.Original teeth are obtained without giving permanent damage to teeth, gum and maxillary bones. 4. They enable a real teeth feeling when chewing as lower and upper structure is porcelain in implants when compared to bridges. 5.Patients who lost all of their teeth in late adulthood have difficulty in using prothesis. Highly corroded maxillary bones makes it difficult to use such prothesis. In such cases, prothesis supported by several implants located on lower and upper chin can be used easily by the patients. Such patients in a society feel better when speaking, eating and drinking as their prothesis does not move in their mouth. Besides, such prothesis affects the psychology of patients positively.
Things to pay attention when applying implants: 1. It is a must to examine all systematic drugs used continuously for diabetics, cardiac, high blood pressure, joint and renal diseases, arteriosclerosis by a dentist 2.Implants should be decided to have after believing that persons who do not have a regular oral care, and have a gum disease, maxillary resorption or decays are treated and they get a healthy oral environment for such an implant. 3. It is very important to determine right locations for implants and to identify where veins and nerves are present appropriately. 4. Implants should be avoided without additional treatments if maxillary structure or gum tissues are too weak to support and scaffold the implants. 5. The most appropriate locations must be chosen by evaluating maxillary locations for implants by panoramic, MR, CT of three dimensional monitoring techniques and patients must be informed accordingly for his consent. 6. Some values in blood and urine analysis and contagious diseases may prevent implants.
