Gum diseases are the most frequently encountered disease types after tooth decays in Turkish society.
Gums diseases manifest themselves due to causes such as bleeding of gums during brushing or all of a sudden, swelling, purple spot, gum pull-outs, shaking in teeth, bad breath, gum colour change (empurpling), pain during brushing, failure of brushing leftovers etc. Encountering frequency in society is 85-90 %.
Major causes of gum diseases;
- Ideal brushing lacking
- decays, false filling and crowning-denture heredity factors
-Permanently used drugs
- Emergence of many systematic diseases affecting our general body in mouth
- Crooking of teeth (failure of cleaning well)
Treatments:
Fundamental aim of gum disease treatment is to launch treatment with eliminating actual effect. Gums should be treated by renewing false filling and dentures of decays. Care of ideal mouth and tooth health should be optimized according to brushing rules. Excessive  purple spot, swelling and bleeding seen in the ones using permanent drugs and in adolescent female children should be treated in coordination with medical doctor of individual. This is common view of cardiac doctors affecting specifically gum disease, heart, joint, rheumatism, atherosclerosis, high blood pressure, kidney and all body. Permanent anti-coagulants and similar drugs used in specifically cardiac patients lead gum diseases and since they increase bleeding, they should be kept under care and cardiac doctor and dentist should cooperate. Likewise, patient, doctor and dentist should cooperate in symptoms of gum diseases of disorders affecting heredity and general body. Crooked teeth and brushing lacking should corrected regularly in every age with orthodontic treatments and appropriate infrastructure should be formed for optimum brushing. Main causes of bad breath possible to be encountered frequently in society are like aforementioned reasons. When actual cause of this disease in which feared dangers may occur is known and eliminated, accurate treatment planning can be fulfilled.
