Harms Which Desserts Give to Teeth

All varieties of Turkish society desserts have gained their international prestige and fame with quality productions and registered brands. Our dessert culture, its various kinds and Turkish delights and cezerye have taken their places among our indispensible food after meals. Offering desserts though it is not after meals in most visits and meetings is an example of Turkish hospitality.  Desserts not only give a fine palatal delight and energy in after-meals and offerings but also enemy of our teeth. We may not give up eating desserts but we should scrutinize how cleaning should be and why they are enemy to teeth. Decays quickly form if 3 basic foods are combined in saliva environment and if not cleaned properly for decaying of teeth scientifically. These basic three food types: 1-floury 2- sugary 3-fatty products. 90 % of desserts are created with combination of these 3 basic food types. The most favourite foods of millions of bacteria and microorganisms living in saliva environment in mouth unfortunately comprise of dessert kinds. It is interesting that both people and microorganisms in mouth are fond of desserts.

Unless teeth are not brushed between at the latest 30-60 minutes and teeth interfaces are not cleaned perfectly with dental floss after meals, instantly microorganisms go into action.
Microorganism produce acid as the last product fed from them by placing into zone which desserts are found in teeth surface and teeth spaces. These acids firstly thin tooth enamels in these zones and we start to recognize hot and cold sensitivities.
If brushing is not performed sufficiently and this habit continues between 6-9 months, enamel thinness goes deeper and losses occur in enamels and pains start to occur while eating desserts. This brings about decays and gums pull-outs in advanced periods.
It is needed to brush teeth ideally after all meals and maintain it up to 3-4 minutes for not having such tables.

However, you should brush more attentively and carefully after desserts and duration should be 4-5 minutes and dental gloss should be used for cleaning tooth cavities.
In addition to this, since each person may have differences of tooth and gums, choice of toothbrush should be made with recommendation of dentist. We should not use ordinary toothbrushes.

Nonetheless, when it has been searched that the French eat a little cheese after meals throughout the history, it is a well-known fact that there is decrease in decay rates. Yet, cheese will not substitute tooth brushing. It can only keep balance of acid-base for a while.
If it true that you cannot give up desserts, you should never leave brushing your teeth and these people should see their dentist once in a 6 months as a last resort.
